beachy pallet-inspired coffee table

Thanks to my mum for the inspiration with the beautiful shabby chic coffee table she created from a shipping pallet. Upon returning home from my last work trip, I opened the door to a new coffee table that my fiancé had crafted out of some scrap wood. I had gushed to him about my mum’s creation and he surprised me with a handmade one of his own. I’ve been toying with the idea of painting all of my dark wood furniture to an off-white color for some time now. Since this table needed to be painted, I figured this would be the best place to start.

First, sand down the entire table with medium-grit sandpaper. Be sure to smooth out any plaster and screw bumps. I left the uneven grit on the sides for character.

After vacuuming up all of the dust and cleaning the table down with a damp cloth, I painted 2-3 coats of Behr’s Swiss Coffee (primer & paint in one).

Voila!
