the green monster

Being from Boston, I found it appropriate to call this juice “the green monster.” Cuteness aside, this drink is packed with nutrients and tastes delicious.

Be sure to wash all of your produce prior to juicing. Run the carrots, celery, apple, and ginger through your juice extractor, alternating ingredients as you go. The fruits & veggies in the photo above yielded about 15oz of juice before adding the kale. With kale, I like to blend it rather than juice it because it allows you to really get the most out of this superfood. Pour your fresh juice into a blender, toss in a fistful of kale, and a scoop of Trader Joe’s Very Green Dietary Supplement (packed with spirulina, chlorella, blue green algae, and lots more).

20120306-115647.jpgBlend until smooth, and serve over ice. It’s important to drink immediately! Fresh juices will lose their nutritional value over time, so be sure to enjoy right away. You can always make more. ;)
